Besides the purchase taxes, owning a home in Barcelona involves periodic taxes worth taking into account.

IBI (property tax)

It is the annual municipal tax on ownership, calculated on the cadastral value. It is paid by whoever is the owner on 1 January. In a sale, it is usually apportioned between buyer and seller by months.

Waste fee

Barcelona applies a municipal waste-collection fee linked to the home.

Income tax

We review the apportionment of these taxes in every purchase.
